The Power of
Effective Delegation
(Code
016)
Some
managers and supervisors find it difficult to grasp the
distinction between "doing" and "managing".
Especially new managers. They need to recognise the role change
from performing tasks to managing the performance of others. This
program illustrates the fundamental but powerful management tool
of delegation. We see that The Power of Effective Delegation is
that it results not only in organisational growth, but it also
gives employees the opportunity to utilise talents and increase
competency levels.
Viewers
learn that delegation is based on the principles of
responsibility, authority and accountability. Delegating does not
relieve the manager of ultimate responsibility, but authority is
provided as a resource for delegates and they must be held
accountable for attaining agreed goals and understand that their
performance will be judged.
We
see that experienced managers recognise that the best outcomes are
achieved through the effective management of time and resources.
Delegation as a management tool is critical to this process and
means assigning work in a planned and thoughtful manner,
establishing checkpoints, evaluating and providing feedback.
Our
main characters are a senior manager and a middle level manager in
a typically structured organisation. The scenarios are set in real
workplace surroundings and the storyline is contemporary with
substantial training content.
Pause
breaks are a feature of
the video and the complete
training program includes
a comprehensive trainer’s
guide.
