Leadership
Styles in Practice
(Code
017)
Those
people who choose to be leaders discover that leadership is more
complex and varied than they had expected and clearly there is no
one good leader or no one style that works best in all situations
and with all groups.
It
is generally accepted that each of us has a dominant natural
leadership style. Either a DEMOCRATIC or AUTOCRATIC leadership
style. It can be argued that a democratic style can generally be
more satisfying and may at times be more effective than an
autocratic style, but there are exceptions. It is especially
important that leaders understand and accept their own dominant
natural leadership style but also understand the other style and
be prepared to put that into practice given the circumstances
where their own style is likely to be less effective.
 Our
main characters are middle level managers in a typically
structured organisation and we see them interact with their teams
and with each other. Viewers are invited to challenge the
application of both styles and there is an interesting twist. The
scenarios are set in real workplace surroundings and the storyline
is contemporary with substantial training content.
Pause
breaks are a feature of
the video and the complete
training program includes
a comprehensive trainer’s
guide.
