The Power of Mentoring
(Code 015)
This video illustrates a solid foundation of successful mentoring behaviours and follows two main mentoring relationships and the development of those relationships. As an aside, a further mentoring situation doesn't seem to be working. We learn that mentoring is an equal partnership where the mentor is prepared to share their skills, experience and insight with another person in an open, honest and risk free environment. We see that mentors are those special people, who through their deeds help others move towards fulfilling their potential.
Traditionally, in our society, mentoring has been thought of as a formal process where an older more experienced person helps and guides a younger person. This traditional career orientation of mentoring, while recognised as important, can be limiting. This video explores cross-gender, cross-cultural and peer to peer applications of formal and informal mentoring relationships.
The video has been designed for the mentor especially, however, mentorees should also benefit from the real workplace scenarios. In today's increasingly complex and high-tech world, organisational leaders are interested in promoting mentoring relationships that help provide that special insight, understanding and information that are outside the normal channels or training programs.
